New Delhi, February 9: KVIC (Khadi and village industries commission) has announced to increase the wages of workers who are associated with the Khadi work under the chairmanship of Manoj Kumar during the 694th meeting of the KVIC which was held at Kutch, Gujarat.

During the 694th meeting of the Khadi and village industries commission, the chairperson, Manoj Kumar, took the decision to increase the wages of all the workers. This is such a big decision as this topic has been pending for decades. It has increased the wages from Rs. 7.50 per hank to Rs. 10 per hank. As a result, the income of artists and workers would be increased by around 33% and 10% respectively.

Manoj Kumar said that the KVIC had organized a series of special meetings named “Khadi Samvad” in the last few months and directly interacted with the workers as they got to know about the problems of wages and their demand to increase remuneration, which had been pending for decades.

He further added, in the financial year 2021-2022, in the Khadi and village industries, production has increased historically as the sales of products have reached 115415 cr. Most surprisingly, the CP outlet in Khadi has set a new record in Khadi sales by selling 1.34 crore on a single day on the 2nd October.

It is important to take action on their problems and by giving priority to it, will help to increase the production of Khadi, resulting in strengthening the rural economy by creating optimum employment.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shared his vision to make India independent and, as per the Khadi, he wanted to bring the local people in front of the world who are connected with the Khadi work. He even quoted Khadi with the motto of “Khadi for nation, Khadi for fashion and Khadi for transformation.”

As per the PIB press release, the decision about the increment of wages will be implemented from the 1st April 2023.
