India Asks its Nationals and Students to Leave Ukraine

New Delhi: Based on the situation created at the Ukraine-Russia border, The Indian embassy in Kyiv (Ukraine’s Capital) asked its citizen and students to leave Ukraine temporarily whose stay is not essential. Russian may invade Ukraine at any time.

“In view of the uncertainties of the current situation in Ukraine, Indian nationals in Ukraine, particularly students whose stay is not essential, may consider leaving temporarily. Indian nationals are also advised to avoid all non-essential travel to and within Ukraine,” the advisory read.

The Embassy also requested Indian nationals to keep them informed about the status of their presence in Ukraine to enable them to reach them where required.

“The Embassy continues to function normally to provide all services to Indian nationals in Ukraine,” the advisory read.

The United States, too, is relocating its Ukraine embassy operations from the capital Kyiv to the western city of Lviv, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Monday, citing a “dramatic acceleration in the buildup of Russian forces.”

The move comes as US officials warned that Moscow was continuing to amass more than 100,000 troops near Russia’s border with Ukraine and in neighbouring Belarus, and could at any time launch a devastating attack, including on Kyiv. Russia, however, denied Western accusations that it is planning an invasion.

The Biden Administration has repeatedly warned Russia of “severe consequences” in case its forces invade Ukraine and has insisted on a diplomatic solution to the issue.
