New Delhi: World’s biggest search engine Google, which provides the most essential ingredient for any smartphone available in the market, the Android operating system, is all set to launch its own series of mobile phones ahead of festival season in India, the media reported on Thursday.

Earlier, Google had introduced its Pixel series of Android smartphones, but it never joined the competition, confining itself to providing optimized devices.

Now, seeing an increased demand this coming festive season, the search engine has asked suppliers to produce over 8 million units for its new Pixel 7 series, the media reported.

According to Nikkei Asia, Google is preparing for its largest-ever launch order for its latest mobile phone range to take on Apple, Samsung, and other rivals. The search engine has informed suppliers that it “roughly aims to double its smartphone sales for 2023 compared with this year.

Analysts believe Google would get a good response to its upcoming Pixel 7 series, which comes with some state-of-the-art features.

The reports said the devices with Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro would come with an aluminum camera bar and the improved Tensor G2 chip. They might also have a 50MP main camera, as in the Pixel 6. The upcoming smartphones may come with an upgraded 11MP front camera. The Pixel 7 Pro could come with a 48MP telephoto lens, according to reports.

Google’s plans include launching a range of smartphones in its Pixel series targeted for both mid-range and premium segments. The Pixel A series is meant for the mid-range segment, expected to have features like an octa-core processor, up to 128GB of internal storage, single or dual rear cameras, enhanced battery life, and the latest version of Android.

The standard Pixel series could include a basic model and a Pro model featuring the best specifications and features. They could also run the latest version of Android and be one of the first phones to get the next generation of the Android operating system.
