Google to invest 15 million in India to support small businesses

New Delhi: The Google on Wednesday late night announced that Google will invest USD 75 million outside the US to support the small businesses. Google will invest 109 crore (USD 15 million) to help Indian small and micro enterprises (SMEs).

Google is connected with small businesses around the world and helping them to scale, innovate and reach new customers. “With the announcement, we are proud to help them meet a new challenge accessing capital needed to recover and build resiliency for the future,” official said.

According to the officials “Google will invest $15 million to support small and micro enterprises across the country and we are in discussions with local partners.”

When the pandemic hit last year, Google announced a $200 million investment fund as part of its more than $800 million commitment to support small businesses.

July last year, Sundar Pichai – CEO of Google announced that Google will invest around Rs 75,000 crore ($10 billion) to go India digital.

In a ‘Google for India’ virtual conference – Pichai said that “We will do this through a mix of equity investment, partnerships and an operational infrastructure ecosystem in India. This is a reflection of our confidence in the future of India and its digital economy.”
