Ahmedabad, 11 April 2023: Adani Institute of Infrastructure Engineering (AIIE) embarked on an extraordinary journey of seven months when four of its students, Kushal Mehta, Tathya Kariya, Jisha Naik, and Mohammad Arsh Vahora, enrolled in the e-Yantra Robotics Competition – a robotics outreach program hosted by IIT Bombay and sponsored by the Ministry of Education. The students leveraged every resource to hone their technical and soft skills, passing through the challenging elimination rounds and eventually being shortlisted among 1700+ participants from all over India. Their ultimate success of being proclaimed the top 5 performers of the competition was a testament to their determination and dedication and eventually claiming the championship.
The students’ efforts to tackle the ‘Krishi Bot’ theme were particularly remarkable. The theme entailed creating a robot that can navigate and harvest agricultural produce in future cities. The team gained comprehensive knowledge of several robotics-related technologies, such as Robot Operating System, Gazebo, MoveIt, OpenCV, and Git, to create an algorithm for the robot’s navigation, perception, and manipulation.
In addition to the students, AIIE’s faculty must be commended for their contribution to providing mentorship and guidance. Professor Anupam Kumar Singh, the Principal of AIIE, proudly expressed his delight at the students’ achievement. “Our institute endeavors to cultivate an attitude of team spirit, and analytical and logical reasoning in our students, and this competition has served as the ideal platform for our students to showcase those virtues. We are overjoyed with the outcome.”
IIT Bombay recognized AIIE’s outstanding effort since 2018 and declared it a Grade A institute. With this, AIIE is the only educational institute from Gujarat to make the cut. To crown their efforts, the team at Adani Institute of Infrastructure Engineering achieved the National Title, becoming the only representative from Gujarat to reach the final of this esteemed event.
