Ahmedabad: On World Nature Conservation Day, Adani Total Gas Limited’s (ATGL) Greenmosphere Students’ Club has launched for students of 30 selected schools. Around 120 students from each of the 30 selected schools will be then enlisted to convert them into responsible energy users – Conservation Ambassadors.

Climate change and global warming have created havoc in the life of the citizens of planet earth, and it would be worse in the coming decades.

Adani Total Gas Limited’s (ATGL) titled Greenmosphere project is focusing on building children as change agents. For this, a long-term school-level ongoing campaign covers topics including energy, water, food, best out of waste, and community responsibility, in that progression.

The future is in our children’s hands. The beliefs and habits we help them form are the beliefs and habits that will reflect on the world. Further, reflecting on the urgent need for actions to achieve a healthy planet, under the Greenmosphere Project, CERC (Consumer Education and Research Centre).

Under this ongoing project, students from classes 6 to 8 are engaged in interactive learning with fun activities to bring about changes in energy consumption patterns in the first year (at school as well as at home). Through participative activities, in the first year, students will gain knowledge on energy, alternative forms, environmental implications, how to conserve energy, use greener alternatives, and, most importantly, how to monitor energy consumption at school and their household level.

Thereafter the most active students will be identified, and teams of “Conservation Ambassadors” will be formed.

These Conservation Ambassadors will be leaders who plan and carry out various activities like conducting exhibitions, street plays, painting competitions, etc. to spread the message of energy conservation in a fun and interesting way to others alike. Such corporate commitment and support to conserve biodiversity and natural resources can go a long way in the reversal of damage that has been done to forests, wildlife, ecosystems, and their services.

When we reinforce the importance of environmental preservation in children from a young age, they will be conscious of the decisions they make. It will help the child develop a green mindset and eco-friendly skills that they will carry with them throughout their lives and that will determine our planet’s future. It’s wonderful to see how some simple actions can do long-lasting impressions.
