New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued a rain alert in Rajasthan for November 19 and 20, urging the people to take safety measures in the face of winter rainfall.

Weather in north India, especially in Rajasthan, is visibly affected by the well-marked low-pressure area in the Arabian Sea and western disturbance for the past few days. Therefore, eastern, southern, and south-eastern parts of Rajasthan will experience light to moderate winter downpours with lighting and thunder until November 20, it said.

The IMD said 24 districts of Rajasthan, including Ajmer, Kota, Tonk, Bhilwara, Bundi, Udaipur, Dungarpur, Sirohi, and Banswara, would experience thunderstorms while Jaipur and Jodhpur districts would receive light showers.

“The rainfall will cause a 3-4 degree drop in maximum temperatures and a 2-3 degree rise in minimum temperatures, leading to increased winter rains, especially in Jaipur, in the next 48 hours. The weather, coupled with rainfall in Jodhpur, Sirohi, and Chittorgarh, will increase the risk of seasonal diseases,” it added.
