Venice Film Festival 2022: Julianne Moore to be crowned Jury President

Mumbai: Oscar-winning actor Julianne Moore is expected to lead the jury panel of the Venice International Film Festival 2022 by chairing the role of the jury President of the festival. The festival will be held between August 31, 2022 and September 10, 2022.

Bong Joon Ho was the jury President of the Venice Film Festival in 2021. Moore will head the 79th edition of the festival along with fellow jury members including director Mariano Cohn, Italian filmmaker Leonardo Di Costanzo, French director Audrey Diwan, Iranian actress Leila Hatami, Novelist Kazuo Ishiguro, and Spanish filmmaker Rodrigo Sorogoyen.

Alberto Barbera, the artistic Director of Venice, had made the big announcement about the Jury panel of the prestigious festival. Moore is one of the most popular actors in Hollywood. She is the first woman fromm the United States of America to have earned top acting prizes at Berlin Film Festival for the film The Hours (2002), Venice Film Festival for the film Far From Heaven (2002), and Cannes Film Festival for the film Maps to the Stars (2014).

The panels will award the Golden Lion for best film, Silver Lion – Grand Jury Prize, Silver Lion for best director, Coppa Volpi for best actress, Coppa Volpi for best actor, Special Jury Prize award for best screenplay, Marcello Mastroianni Award for best new young actor or actress and many more, under the leadership of Moore.

The actor has previously worked on several films including Magnolia, Still Alice, The Big Lebowski, Children of Men, and Boogie Nights.
