Tremblors jolt Ladakh, Mizoram on Wednesday

New Delhi: A mild earthquake measuring a magnitude intensity of 3.7 on the Richter scale jolted the Leh district of Ladakh around noon on Wednesday, September 07, 2022.

The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) shared a seismograph on twitter highlighting the affected areas.

Informing about the tremblor, the NCS wrote, “Earthquake of magnitude 3.7 occurred on September 07, 2022, at 12:34 IST on latitude 36.94 and longitude 74.70 with a depth of 10 km located in Leh, Ladakh, India.”

Earlier, a 4.0 magnitude earthquake had jolted the Champhai district and adjoining regions of the eastern state of Mizoram during the early hours of Wednesday.

“Earthquake of magnitude 4.0 occurred on September 07, 2022, at 12:50 IST on latitude 23.41 and longitude 93.82 with a depth of 13 km located 50 km E of Champhai, Mizoram, India,” the NCS tweeted.

However, no reports of damages or casualties surfaced so far.
