Tremblor: Earthquake of magnitude 5.1 jolts Andaman and Nicobar Islands

New Delhi: An earthquake measuring a magnitude intensity of 5.1 on the Richter scale jolted the Campbell Bay and adjoining regions in the Andaman and Nicobar group of islands on the morning of Thursday, March 10, 2022.

The Nation Centre for Seismology (NCS) shared a seismograph on Twitter highlighting the intensity of the tremblor in the affected areas.

“Earthquake of magnitude 5.1 occurred on March 10, 2022, at 09:56 am IST on latitude 3.89 and longitude 96.06 with a depth of 96 km located 420km Southeast (SE) of Campbell Bay, Andaman and Nicobar Island, India,” the NCS tweeted.

No reports of damage or casualties have surfaced so far.

The Indian archipelago consists of about 572 islands and is an earthquake-prone region.
