New Delhi: An intense earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 on the Richter Scale struck the Ukhrul district of Manipur on the afternoon of Friday, January 14, 2022.
The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) shared a seismograph on Twitter with a caption that read, βAn earthquake of magnitude 4.1 occurred on January 14, 2022, at 01:59 pm IST on latitude 24.35, longitude 94.61, with a depth of 55km and located 66km South-Southeast of Ukhrul, Manipur, India.β
No reports of damages or casualties surfaced so far.
The earthquake comes a day after a tremblor of magnitude 4 on the Richter scale jolted the Imphal city of Manipur. The region frequently experiences earthquakes due to the presence of the Kopili fault.
