New Delhi: A mild tremblor measuring a magnitude intensity of 4.9 jolted the Diglipur district and adjoining regions of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands around noon on Friday, September 02, 2022.
The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) informed regarding the earthquake. The NCS also shared a seismograph on Twitter, highlighting the affected areas.
The Diglipur district of the Andaman and Nicobar islands was revealed as the epicentre of the earthquake. The epicentre was said to be located about 108 kms North-Northeast (NNE) of Diglipur.
“Earthquake of magnitude 4.9 occurred on September 02, 2022, at 12:43 IST on latitude 14.11 and longitude 93.49 with a depth of 10 km located 108km NNE Diglipur, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India,” the NCS informed.
However, no reports of damages to property or casualties surfaced so far. The Diglipur district and the Campbell Bay are two of the most affected seismic regions. They experience maximum seismic activity, as revealed by the NCS.
