New Delhi: A mild earthquake measuring a magnitude intensity of 4.9 on the Richter scale jolted the Fayzabad district of Afghanistan on Friday, August 05, 2022.
The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) shared a seismograph on Twitter, highlighting the affected regions.
“Earthquake of Magnitude 4.9 occurred on August 05, 2022, at 12:38 IST with latitude 36.38 and longitude 71.09 with a depth of 150km located 93km South-Southeast of Fayzabad, Afghanistan,” the NCS tweeted.
The Fayzabad district lies on the Indo-Afghan border. The region is known for frequent seismic activity and lies under the seismic activity hazard zone.
No reports of damages or casualties surfaced so far.
