New Delhi: A mild earthquake measuring a magnitude intensity of 3.4 on the Richter scale jolted the Katra and adjoining districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, August 26, 2022.
The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) took to Twitter and shared a seismograph highlighting the affected regions.
Informing about the tremblor, the NCS wrote, “Earthquake of magnitude 3.6 occurred on August 26, 2022, at 03:28 IST on latitude 33.17 and longitude 75.57 with a depth of 5 km located 62km East-Northeast of Katra, Jammu and Kashmir, India.”
The tremblor was experienced after a 4.3 magnitude earthquake struck the Kabul district of Afghanistan during the early hours of Friday, August 26, 2022.
“Earthquake of magnitude 3.6 occurred on August 26, 2022, at 02:55 IST on latitude 35.19 and longitude 70.84 with a depth of 80km located 161 km ENE of Kabul, Afghanistan.”
However, no reports of damages or casualties surfaced so far.
