New Delhi: Two earthquakes jolted the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) shared seismographs highlighting the affected areas on Twitter.
A tremblor measuring a magnitude intensity of 3.9 on the Richter scale struck the Kargil district of Ladakh during the early hours of Wednesday.
“Earthquake of magnitude 3.9 occurred on March 23, 2022, 06:59 am IST on latitude 35.79 and longitude 75.33 with a depth of 10 km located 155 km North-Northwest of Kargil, Ladakh, India,” the NCS tweeted.
However, the first earthquake with a magnitude of 4.0 on the Richter scale jolted the entire Ladakh region around 2 am on Wednesday.
Informing about the tremblor, the NCS wrote, “Earthquake of magnitude 4.0 occurred on March 23, 2022, 01:41 am IST on latitude 35.74 and longitude 75.12 with a depth of 10 km located in Ladakh, India.”
No reports of casualties or damages have surfaced so far.
