Trade: India achieves a target of $400 billion from exports

New Delhi: India achieved its highest ever goods export target of $400 billion on March 23 nine days ahead of schedule. Asia’s third-largest economy had set this ambitious export target for FY22. In the April-December period, the figure stood at about $300 billion.

“India set an ambitious target of $400 Billion of goods exports and achieves this target for the first time. I congratulate our farmers, weavers, MSMEs, manufacturers, exporters for this success. This is a key milestone in our Aatmanirbhar Bharat journey,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted.

In January, Union commerce minister Piyush Goyal said that the country is on track to achieve the goal said. “It is time for all Indians to feel proud that the clarion call was given by PM Narendra Modi to make exports an engine of growth has been taken seriously by everyone. With $330 billion in the first nine months of fiscal 2021-22, we are on track to reach our target,” said Goyal.
