New Delhi, April 28: The California-based tech giant and the world’s biggest search engine, Google, banned over 3500 loan apps for violating the newly revised policy made for the Play Store.

The company said in the blog post that “in India, in 2022, we have reviewed and taken necessary enforcement action, including removal of apps, on more than 3500 personal loan apps for violating the policy requirements. We continue to uplevel our efforts in this area by regularly updating our policies and review processes.”
In 2021, the company updated the guidelines for Play Store developers, especially for those applications that provide financial services, and those policies became the standard policy for personal apps in India. The interesting fact is that after revising the policy up to September 2021, the policy went into effect, including the submission of the paperwork, checking to see if there is an RBI loan license, or alternatively, confirming that they only provide a platform to facilitate money lending by duly licensed lenders.
Furthermore, the app developer must ensure that the developer name and the name under which the business is registered are the same in their declaration.
The company revealed that it had already stopped over 1.43 million policy-violating apps from publishing, preventing fraudulent and abusive transactions in 2022.
Google has banned several applications because of security issues, including Snake Ball Lovers, Swipe Brick Breaker 2, UBhind: Mobile Tracker Manager, Infinite Slice, Compass 9: Smart Compass, Bounce Brick Breaker, and others.
