New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) informed the advancement of the Southwest (SW) Monsoon into most parts of the Arabian sea and Gujarat as on Monday, June 27, 2022. The IMD has been closely monitoring the movement of the Southwest monsoon.
“Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into most parts of Arabian Sea and most parts of Gujarat state today, Monday, June 27, 2022,” the IMD wrote.
The department shared a rainfall distribution map on Twitter with coordinates that read, “The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) now passes through Lat. 24°N/ Long. 60°E, Lat. 24°N/ Long. 65°E, Deesa, Ratlam, Shivpuri, Rewa, Churk, 27.0°N/84°E.”
The department also warned of isolated heavy rainfall as result of the off-shore trough at the west coast coupled with strong westerly/ southwesterly winds along with west coast in lower tropospheric levels.
“Isolated heavy rainfall over Gujarat Region, coastal Karnataka and Kerala, and Mahe during next five days; over Madhya Maharashtra on June 27, 29, and 30; over interior Karnataka on June 29 and 30; over southern parts of Saurashtra on June 27 and July 01; over coastal Andhra Pradesh on 28th and Telangana on June 27, 2022,” the IMD informed.
“Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall also likely over Gujarat region on June 27 and July 0; over coastal Karnataka on June 29 and 30, and coastal Andhra Pradesh on June 27, 2022,” the IMD added.
