Rainfall intensity to reduce over Gujarat: IMD

New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted a significant reduction in rainfall intensity over Gujarat and adjoining Indian states on Thursday, July 14, 2022.

Sharing a spacial rainfall distribution map on Twitter, the IMD wrote, “Rainfall intensity is likely to reduce over Konkan and Goa, Gujarat Region, Madhya Maharashtra, and Telangana from July 15 and over Saurashtra and Kutch from July 17, 2022.”

“Isolated heavy to very rainfall with extremely heavy falls very likely over Saurashtra and Kutch on July 14 and July 15 and over Gujarat region on July 14, 2022,” the IMD added.

Meanwhile, it predicted an increased rainfall activity over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and North-Eastern States from July 18 onwards.

“Rainfall activity likely to increase over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Northeastern States from July 18 for subsequent 5 days,” the IMD tweeted.

Informing about Rainfall/thunderstorm forecast and warnings, the IMD wrote, “Isolated very heavy rainfall very likely over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe on July 14; South Interior Karnataka on July 14-15; Odisha during July 14-16; Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Gujarat region on July 15; Saurashtra and Kutch on July 16, 2022.”
