Mumbai: OTT platform Amazon Prime Video unveiled the teaser of upcoming web series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, on Wednesday, July 06, 2022. The show will premiere from September 02, 2022, onwards.

The streaming platform released the upcoming teaser exclusively on the streaming app for Amazon Prime Video users. Based on novels by JRR Tolkein, the Rings of Power is set thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit unfold. The upcoming instalment is the first long-format adaptation of the fantasy books.

The teaser begins with Sadoc Burrows observing, “The skies are strange,” as a comet races across the sky and is seen by several characters. The comet travels across sweeping landscapes, meadows of the middle earth. The audience can also witness Galadriel, Bronwyn, Prince Durin, Elrond, Arondir, a couple of Ents, and more.

The eight-episode long first season was filmed in New Zealand. The second season is expected to be extensively filmed in the UK.

Amazon Prime Video had famously bought the rights to the books for $250 million, with $1 billion commitment to produce five seasons of the show. The show will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam languages.

Directed by JA Bayona, Wayne Yip, and Charlotte Brändström with JD Payne and Patrick McKay as show runners, The Rings of Power feature actors Robert Aramayo, Nazanin Boniadi, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, and Morfydd Clark in pivotal roles.
