New Delhi: Some north Indian states, like Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Haryana, boast of having several ‘army families’ from which youngsters join the armed forces or police as a family tradition.

One such a family is that of the Sethis from Dehradun who has motivated many people to join the Indian Army. Now its third generation, and first woman, Nanki Sethi, has joined the army as a Lieutenant.

Her grandfather, Prahlad Sethi, a resident of Defence Colony, Dehradun, had served the nation as a Lieutenant-Colonel in the Indian Army. His son, Colonel Hitesh Sethi is still serving in the Eastern Sector.

On 29 May, Colonel Sethi’s Daughter, Nanki Sethi cleared the training successfully at Officers Training Academy, Chennai. Now she will serve the nation as an army officer.

Lieutenant Nanki Sethi studied in APS, Ambala Cantt, and graduated from ILS Law College, Pune.
