Mumbai: Filmmaker Meghna Gulzar began shooting for her upcoming Bollywood film, Sam Bahadur, on Monday, August 08, 2022.
Gulzar took to Instagram to share the news of filming. She even thanked the Indian army for their support in the production of the film.
“Only gratitude as we set out on this extremely special journey… Sam Bahadur now filming. We are thankful for your continued support Indian army, Indian Airforce, Indian Navy, and the Manekshaw family,” Meghna Gulzar wrote on Monday. She even shared a short behind-the-scenes video.
The biographical drama is based on the life and the times of Field Marshal, Sam Manekshaw, who was considered one of India’s greatest war heroes. He was the chief of the Indian army during the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971 where the Indian army supported Bangladesh and fought against Pakistan.
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies, written by Bhavani Iyer, Meghna’s father Gulzar, and Shantanu Srivastava, and music by popular trio Shankar, Ehsaan, and Loy with lyrics by Gulzar, the film features actor Vicky Kaushal in the titular role along with Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh in pivotal roles.
