Mumbai: The first song from Akshay Kumar’s upcoming historical fiction, Prithviraj, released on Monday, May 23, 2022. Based on the life and valour of the erstwhile emperor Prithviraj Chauhan, the film will release in theatres on June 03, 2022.

The actor dropped a teaser of the song on social media handles with a caption, “Of promises, honour and devotion. Experience the Makhmali song teaser now and watch the full song only in theatres! Releasing in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages. Celebrate Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan at a theatre near you on June 03.”

Talking about the film, Kumar told media, “In the 30 years of my journey in cinema, I have been fortunate to get amazing romantic tracks that have got a lot of love from my fans and audiences and I’m confident that Makhmali, sung by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal will also get the same amount of love from people. Makhmali has to rank as one of the most soulful romantic tracks of my film career.”

“The song is picturised on the mesmerizingly beautiful and pure love story between Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan and his beloved Princess Sanyogita. Theirs was a relationship of equals. They were forward thinking and they worked hard to tell people that men and women are equals and that gender parity was necessary for the betterment of society. I love the song and it’s been on loop on my phone. I hope everyone loves Makhmali too,” he added.

Manushi Chillar, who is marking her Bollywwod debut with the Yash Raj Films banner, said, “I love the entire album of Prithviraj and Makhmali has a special place in my heart. It’s the first romantic track of my career and it’s beautiful. I’ve grown up watching YRFs romantic songs and I’ve gotten to finally do one.”

Directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi under the banner of Yash Raj Films, Prithviraj features Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chillar in the lead. The film Prithviraj will mark 30 years of Akshay Kumar’s presence in the Hindi film industry.
