KK’s Demise: Mortal remains of KK brought to Mumbai

New Delhi: Bollywood singer and composer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, passed away a few hours after a successful concert in Nazrul Mancha auditorium, Kolkata. He was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital after collapsing in his room of the Grand Hotel in Kolkata.

The doctors had declared him brought dead minutes after being carried to the hospital. His autopsy was conducted at the State-run SSKM hospital. The singer’s post mortem report suggested cardiac arrest. It also indicated that the late singer had chronic liver and lung issues. His mortal remains have been brought to Mumbai.

The West Bengal government had earlier paid tribute to the late singer with a gun salute at the cultural complex, Rabindra Sadan on Wednesday. Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee was present at the event alongwith the singer’s family. Meanwhile, Kolkata police has registered a case of unnatural death after raising questions over concert arrangements.

The news comes a few days after renowned Punjabi singer Siddhu Moosewala’s tragic demise. The entire Bollywood fraternity was taken aback by the sudden demise and tributes poured from across the country.

Singer Rahul Vaidya said, “Singer KK never smoked or drank! Led the most simple non controversial non media hyped life. Complete family man. He met with so much of love and kindness whenever we met. God! Too unfair! Om Shanti.”

Fellow singer Mika Singh also paid his tribute and wrote, “Yet another shocking and heartbreaking news… the most talented and down to earth singer KK sadly passed away today. Oh God what is happening? May God bless his soul and he rest in eternal peace. Still in complete shock.”

South Indian actor Allu Arjun wrote, “Extremely saddened to learn about the untimely demise of KK ji. He sang memorable songs for me. He was loved by people across generations and languages. Condolences to the near and dear. Gone too soon. Rest in Peace.”

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi also expressed grief through social media. “Saddened by the untimely demise of noted singer, Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK. His songs reflected a wide range of emotions as struck a chord with people of all age groups. We will always remember him through his songs. Condolences to his family and fans. Om Shanti.”
