Mumbai: Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves is expected to feature in an upcoming Hulu series titled, The Devil in the White City. The OTT platform announced the development during a presentation at the Television Critics Association’s summer tour.

The series is based on author Erik Larson’s 2003 book with the same title. The series will mark Reeves’ first major role in the American television.

The series narrates the true story of two men, an architect and a serial killer, whose fates were linked by The Chicago World’s Fair of 1893.

The official synopsis reads, “It follows Daniel H. Burnham, a brilliant and fastidious architect racing to make his mark on the world and Henry H. Holmes, a handsome and cunning doctor who fashioned his own pharmaceutical Murder Castle on fair grouradhikands – a palace built to seduce, torture and mutilate young women. The story takes the viewer on a tour of murder, romance and mystery in the gilded age.”

The big-budget project has been under development since Leonardo DiCaprio bought the film rights to the book back in 2010 and was set as a feature at the Paramount Pictures.

Directed by Todd Field, the series is co-produced by the Paramount Television Studios and Disney’s ABC Signature with Martin Scorsese, DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson, Rick Yorn, Stacey Sher, Field, and Mark Lafferty as executive producers.
