New Delhi: Hollywood A-lister Jim Carrey announced plans to retire as an actor during an interview on Friday, April 01, 2022. The actor is currently promoting his upcoming film Sonic the Hedgehog.

The revelation came a day after the actor-comedian said he was sickened after witnessing the spineless audience at the Oscars 2022.

He referred to the incident where Will Smith received a standing ovation for his Best Actor speech minutes before he struck Chris Rock across the face for joking about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

Talking about his plans, the 60-year old said, “I am retiring. I am being fairly serious. It depends. If the angels bring some sort of script that’s written in gold ink that says to me that it’s going to be important for people to see, I might.”

“I might continue down the road, but I’m taking a break. I really like my quiet life, I really love putting paint on canvas, and I really love my spiritual life. This is something you might never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists – I have enough,” he said.

The actor contributed to the comedy genre for over four decades. The actor has several critically-acclaimed performances in films like The Dead Pool, Pink Cadillac, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Mask, The Truman Show, and more.
