New Delhi: The Executive Committee of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences decided to ban all Russian programs from the International Emmy Awards 2022.

“In support of Ukraine, the executive committee of the International Academy has decided to ban all programs from Russia from International Emmy Awards competition 2022,” the official statement read.

According to the Academy, “All programs produced by and/or co-produced with Russia-based companies as well as all programs originally made for a Russian-owned channel, network, or streaming platform will be considered ineligible and if already submitted, will be withdrawn.”

The International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences had previously suspended the memberships of Russian individuals and formal affiliations with Russia-based companies.

On the other hand, several entertainment companies, including Amazon, Netflix, Warner Media, and Sony Music, decided to pause or entirely withdraw business in Russia, whereas major production studios like Paramount Pictures have stopped premiering their films in the country.
