India Extends Travel Restrictions to these Countries

New Delhi: Amid the rising cases of the coronavirus in the several countries including the European countries, the government of India has taken steps in advance to prevent the spread in of new covid-19 variant in the country.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Friday released an updated list of countries from where travellers would need to follow additional measures on arrival in India, including post-arrival testing amid new Covid-19 variant concerns.

In the new list, the Centre also added Hong Kong and Israel after positive virus cases were detected in the two countries. The Union Health Ministry on Thursday had directed states to ensure ‘rigorous screening and testing’ of all international travellers landing in India from ‘at risk’ countries.

According to the media report Ministry of Health and Family Welfare adds Hong Kong and Israel to the list of countries from where travellers would need to follow additional measures on arrival in India, including post-arrival testing.

Full list of counties that are now under ‘at-risk’ categories are European countries, including the UK, South Africa, Brazil, Bangladesh, Botswana, China, Mauritius, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Hong Kong and Israel.
