IMD predicts widespread heavy rainfall in parts of MP, Gujarat, Maharashtra

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department predicted very heavy rainfall in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, and parts of Gujarat and Maharashtra for Tuesday, September 13, 2022.

The IMD shared a spatial distribution map on Twitter, highlighting the regions affected by the SW Monsoon winds.

“Fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightening very likely over Saurashtra and Kutch during September 13 and September 14, 2022; over East Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat region on September 13; Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat region, Central Mahrashtra, Konkan and Goa during the next 5 days,” IMD wrote.

“Fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightening very likely over West Madhya Pradesh during September 13 to 15 and over ghat regions of Central Maharashtra during September 12-15,” it added.

IMD also informed regarding the formation of a deep cyclone in the Bay of Bengal. Warning against the cyclonic depression, the IMD wrote, “Fishermen are advised not to venture into northwest and west-central Bay of Bengal and along and off-Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coasts on September 13, 2022.”
