New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted a significant increase in monsoon-induced rainfall in the Eastern coast of the country, followed by the Western states of Maharashtra and Gujarat from September 08, 2022, onwards.
On Monday, September 05, 2022, the department took to Twitter and shared a spatial rainfall distribution map that showcased the movement of the monsoon winds and the rate of precipitation across the country.
The IMD informed regarding the rainfall in the east coast and western Indian states and wrote, “Increase in rainfall activity along East coast, Maharashtra and Gujarat region from 8th September, 2022.”
The department also talked about an increased rainfall activity in the entire Southern region of India including the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh, and provided information regarding the continuation of isolated heavy rainfall.“Isolated heavy rainfall likely to continue over South Peninsular India during next five days,” the IMD tweeted.
Meanwhile, the maps depicted a significant decrease in the rainfall activity over North-Western parts of India. The subdued rainfall activity is said to continue over the region till the upcoming five days. Informing about the change, IMD wrote, “Subdued rainfall activity over Northwest India during next five days.”
