IMD predicts heavy rains in Southern India

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy rainfall in the southern regions of the Indian subcontinent on Wednesday, September 07, 2022.

The IMD took to twitter and shared a spatial rainfall distribution map that highlighted the state-wise rainfall distribution.

“Isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Lakshadweep and Tamil Nadu on September 07; Rayalseema during September 07-09; Coastal Andhra Pradesh, South Interior Karnataka during September 07-10 and September 06-08; and Telangana, Coastal and North Interior Karnataka, and Kerala during the next five days,” IMD wrote.

Informing about isolated heavy rainfall from September 07 to September 10, IMD said, “Isolated very heavy rainfall also likely over Kerala and Mahe on September 07 and 08; Coastal Karnataka during September 07-09; South Interior Karnataka on September 08; North Interior Karnataka on September 09 and 10; and Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Telangana during September 08 to September 10, 2022.”

“Isolated extremely heavy rainfall also likely over South Interior Karnataka on 07th September, 2022,” IMD added.
