New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy and widespread rainfall in different parts of Odisha over the next 4 days. The IMD also issued a yellow rainfall alert in several districts of Odisha for the weekend starting January 13, 2022.
The IMD tweeted, “Isolated districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, and Kandhamal will experience thunder and lightning on Thursday, January 13, 2022.”
Meanwhile, the department predicted heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Bolangir, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, and Sambalpur districts for Friday, January 14, 2022.
The Sundargarh district will also experience thunderstorms and lightning along with adjoining districts on Saturday, January 15, 2022. The Southern interiors of Odisha and the Gajapati and Ganjam districts will experience light to moderate rainfall on Sunday. “The rains will decrease after Sunday,” the IMD revealed.
The Indian state of Odisha is experiencing winter rainfall due to the presence of two fresh Western Disturbances. The rain-bearing Disturbances are brought by the Westerlies and will heavily influence the central and coastal regions of Odisha till Sunday, January 16, 2022.
