Mumbai: The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) announced nominations under its annual awards ceremony. Several remarkable films including Jai Bhim, Gangubai Kathiawadi, ’83, and Minnal Murali, among others have made to the list.
The IFFM 2022 is an annual festival that is presented by the Victorian Government and is held in Melbourne, Australia, to showcase and honour some of the best films from the Indian subcontinent.
The festival is making a comeback with its 13th edition in a physical format after being held virtually for the past two years. The IFFM 2022 will begin from August 12 to August 20, 2022, in person, whereas the virtual programme of the event will be held from August 13 to August 30, 2022, for the Australian audiences.
There are over 100 films across 23 languages that are expected to be screened at the festival this year.
Meanwhile, an All-Awards night celebration will be held on August 14, 2022, in the Melbourne city. The awards will acknowledge and honour the best cinematic talent across all formats of feature films and acclaimed OTT series that were released between August 2021 and April 2022 in the Indian subcontinent.
The festival jury of 2022 includes global award-winning film editor Jill Bilcock, actor Vince Colosimo, director Geoffrey Wright, and filmmaker Nadia Tass.
The complete list of nominations includes categories like the Best Film, Best Indie Film, Best Actor (Male and Female), Best Director, Best Documentary, Best film from the Indian subcontinent, Best Series, Best Actor in a Series (Male and Female).
Nominations under the Best Film category include films like 83 (Hindi), Badhaai Do (Hindi), Gangubai Kathiawadi (Hindi), Jai Bhim (Tamil), Minnal Murali (Malayalam), Paka (River of Blood) (Malayalam), Sardar Udham (Hindi), and The Rapist (English, Hindi).
