New Delhi: BCCI President and former India captain Sourav Ganguly heaped praise on star batter Virat Kohli and said that the 33-year-old is more skillful than him as a player. The former India captain also went on to say that Kohli will continue to play and will have more appearances in India’s jersey than him at the end of the day.
The Indian star scored a magnificent 122 runs off 61 balls as India registered a 101-run win in their final Super Fours game on Thursday. This was Kohli’s first international century since 2019.
This is not the first time the BCCI President has backed Kohli. Ahead of the Asia Cup, in an interview with the media, Ganguly hailed the star batter as a big player and said that he would find form during the tournament.
“Let him practice, let him play matches. He is a big player and has scored plenty of runs. I am hopeful that he will make a comeback. He is just not being able to score a century,” said Ganguly.
“Young people should also look at it that way. I can say it now because I am a bit more experienced. But the young ones should look at it as an opportunity and move on.” On today’s fast-paced game, Ganguly said “The game is different. It has gotten faster, shorter, more sixes, more boundaries, and not many deliveries left outside the off stump. The game has changed.”
