New Delhi, February 13: In the January transfer window, many clubs from the Women’s Super League have bought young players from Asia and made this continent an important place for recruiting young women footballers.

Explaining the reason, Gareth Taylor, Manchester City Women’s FC manager, said that Asian women footballers are very strong and understand football well.

She said, “We have seen a little bit of an influx more recently, their level of intensity is good, and their level of game understanding is very, very high—but obviously, every player is different.”

Asian women footballers have football intelligence and they are very talented.

Citing an example, she said: “Yui Hasegawa gives us many things. She is a highly intelligent footballer. The way she reads the game is second to none. I think she’s an incredible talent.”

Currently, many successful Asian women footballers are playing in the Women’s Super League in England. Some of them are Fuka Nagano of Liverpool FC, Shuang Wang of Tottenham FC, Riko Ueki of West Ham United, Yuka Momiki and Saori Takarada from Leicester City FC.
