New Delhi, April 30: The USA Soccer and Mexico Football Federation have withdrawn their bid to jointly host the 2027 Women’s World Cup, the media reported on Tuesday.
“Hosting the World Cup tournament is a huge undertaking and having additional time to prepare allows us to maximize the impact across the globe.” US Soccer President Cindy Parlow Cone said.
After the USA and Mexico withdrew their bid, Brazil and a combined bid by Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium are the remaining candidates in the race to host the 2027 event.
The USA and Mexico withdrew their bid just a few weeks before the FIFA Congress, which will select the host, is set to start in May in Thailand.
The Mexico Football Federation said they have changed their plan to host the 2027 event to move their bid back to 2031.
