Directed by Bollywood debutant and the one who helmed the National Award-winning 2019 Marathi drama Anandi Gopal, Sameer Vidwans, and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Satyaprem Ki Katha is an epic love story.
The film also marks a massive collaboration between NGE and Namah Pictures.
The film was announced in June 2021 as Satyanarayan Ki Katha. However, the makers decided to change the title to avoid hurting religious sentiments as the initial title received outrage by a section of audience on social media.
The makers had even issued a statement that read, “A title of the film is something that emerges organically through the creative process. We have taken a decision to change the title of our recently announced film Satyanarayan ki Katha to avoid hurting sentiments, even if that’s purely unintentional. Producers of the film and the creative team also are in complete support of this decision. We will be announcing a new title for our love story in the due course of our journey.”
The original title, Satyanarayan Ki Katha, translated to the story of Satyanarayan, another name for Hindu god, Vishnu. The title refers to the veneration that is held in most Indian households as a mark of prosperity and positivity before beginning with anything significant.
