Mumbai: South Indian film Acharaya, starring Ram Charan and senior actor Chiranjeevi, is expected to release on Amazon Prime Video from May 27, 2022, onwards.
The film will release on the OTT platform nearly four weeks after it released in theatres. The makers recently sold the digital rights of Acharya. Several viewers felt makers should have directly released the film on OTT.
Acharya collected around USD 5000 in the international collections and Rs. 53 lakhs in the domestic circuit due to slow narration and an unlikeable plot. The audience slammed the director Koratala Siva for the plot and slow narration. They even criticized the Neelaambari track.
On the other hand, industry experts felt Covid-19 was the primary reason behind Acharya’s failure at the Box Office since the postponement led to the film being outdated in public memory.
Actor Chiranjeevi has several remakes for release, whereas Ram Charan will feature in RC15 and other films. Acharya marks the third failure of Pooja Hegde after Radhe Shyam and Beast flopped at the Box Office.
