New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed regarding the depression over Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. The department is constantly monitoring the movement of the depression and the meteorological changes and wind pressure systems surrounding it.
The department had predicted the depression over Northeast MP and adjoining south UP on Monday.
According to fresh developments, the depression over Northeastern Madhya Pradesh moved towards Northwest of Madhya Pradesh and Southwest Uttar Pradesh on August 22, 2022. The depression moved further West-Northwestwards and weakened into a Well Marked Low Pressure Area over East Rajasthan and adjoining Northwest Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday.
Informing about the depression, IMD wrote, “Yesterday’s Depression over Northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Southwest Uttar Pradesh moved West-Northwestwards and weakened into a Well Marked Low Pressure Area over East Rajasthan and adjoining Northwest Madhya Pradesh at 0830 hrs IST of today, August 23, 2022.”
IMD shared a spatial rainfall distribution map on Twitter, thereby indicating rainfall in the central, western, and North-western parts of the country. The weakened depression is expected to result in rainfall over the Indian states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Chhattisgarh from August 23 to August 27, 2022.
“Widespread light/moderate rain with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightning very likely over southwest MP and South Gujarat on August 23; SW Rajasthan on August 23 and August 24; Chhattisgarh on August 26 and August 27, 2022,” IMD tweeted.
The department forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall over North Gujarat and South Gujarat on Tuesday. The weather department also informed regarding a cyclonic circulation that lays Northeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood extending upto middle tropospheric levels.
