New Delhi, July 8: Norwegian cyclist Andre Drege passed away after an accident during his Austria tour, the media reported on Monday.
According to the tour of Austria organizers, Drege, who was from the coop-Repsol team, sustained severe injuries during the race on Saturday. He died on Sunday, just a day after the accident.
“It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we have to announce the passing of Andre Drege. Our entire team is devastated and our thoughts and prayers are with Andre’s family and loved ones,” his team coop-Repsol said in the statement.
Drege won seven races this year and was expected to move up to the world tour level in 2025 with the Jayco-AIULa team.
