Mumbai: The festival organisers revealed that Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone, will be a part of the Competition jury at the Cannes Film Festival 2022.
According to the festival’s official Twitter account, French actor Vincent Lindon will head the jury of the 75th edition. The Film festival will run from May 17 to May 28, 2022. Padukone will be one of the eight-member jury that will reward 21 films with Palme d’Or during the closing ceremony on May 28.
“The French actor Vincent Lindon will preside over the Jury of the 75th Cannes Film Festival! Surrounded by his eight jurors, he will award the Palme d’Or to one of the 21 films in the Competition on Saturday, May 28, during the Closing Ceremony,” the account tweeted.
Other jury members include actor-filmmaker Rebecca Hall, Swedish actor Noomi Rapace, Italian actor-director Jasmine Trinca, Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi, French actor-filmmaker Lady Ly, Filmmaker Jeff Nichols, and Norweigan director-screenwriter Joachim Trier.
The 36-year-old Padukone was the chairperson of the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival for two years. The actor shot to fame with her 2007 debut blockbuster Om Shanti Om and critically acclaimed films like Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani, Padmavat, and Piku.
The Gehraiyaan actor made her Hollywood debut against actor Vin Diesel in the 2017 action film, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage.
