New Delhi: Union Minister and BJP leader Babul Supriyo on Friday offered former senior TMC Rajya Sabha MP Dinesh Trivedi to join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Dinesh Trivedi resigned from his post on the Friday during the Budget session in Parliament.

BJP’s Babul Supriyo said that “Welcome to BJP dada… Good to have you on board.”

Supriyo to Dinesh Trivedi said that “You and I have had long conversations but we are bound by oath we have taken on the Constitution, so I won’t spell anything out. You have sown the seeds of this courage long back and I am very happy that the flowers have bloomed in the shape of the lotus and nothing else.”

The former Rajya Sabha member added that the doors of the BJP had always been open to him.

Before the resignation Trivedi said that he felt suffocated in the House as he was unable to do anything about the violence going on in his state, West Bengal.

“If you sit here quietly and cannot do anything, then it is better that you resign from here and go to the land of Bengal and be with people,” Trivedi said in the Upper House of Parliament.

Dinesh Trivedi’s resignation came amidst an exodus of leaders from Mamata Banerjee’s party ahead of the West Bengal assembly poll.
