New Delhi: An earthquake measuring a magnitude intensity of 5.2 on the Richter scale jolted parts of Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas on Saturday, August 20, 2022.
The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) shared a seismograph on Twitter, highlighting the affected areas. According to the NCS, the earthquake’s epicentre is located approximately 140 kms North-Northeast of the State capital, Lucknow.
“Earthquake of magnitude 5.2 occurred on August 20, 2022, at 01:12 IST on latitude 28.07 and longitude 81.25 with a depth of 82 km located 139km NNE of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India,” the NCS informed.
No reports of casualties or damages surfaced so far. The tremblor was experienced in the region a day after a mild 3.6 magnitude tremblor on the Richter scale jolted the Pithoragarh district and adjoining districts of Uttarakhand.
“Earthquake of magnitude 3.6 occurred on August 19, 2022, at 12:55 IST on latitude 29.96 and longitude 80.12 with a depth of 5 km located 43km NNW of Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, India,” the NCS had tweeted.
