Tremblor: A 4.3 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Arunachal Pradesh

New Delhi: An earthquake with an intensity of 4.3 struck the Pangin district of Arunachal Pradesh during the late hours of Sunday, February 06, 2022.

The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) shared a seismograph on Twitter with a caption that read, “Earthquake of magnitude 4.3 occurred on February 06, 2022, at 11:59 pm IST on latitude 30.71 and longitude 96.40 with a depth of 10 km located 305 km North-Northeast of Pangin, Arunachal Pradesh, India.”

The Northeast region of India has active seismic activity and is prone to frequent earthquakes. The region lies in the earthquake hazard zone. According to Geologists, the presence of a fault-line in the region also contributes to the natural disaster.

Arunachal Pradesh was also struck by an avalanche on Sunday, February 06, 2022. According to the report by Defence PRO Tezpur, 7 Indian army personnel were struck by the avalanche in the Kameng region and went missing. However, no damage or casualties were reported due to the earthquake.
