The US and South Korea conduct missile launches in response to North Korea’s test

New Delhi: South Korea and the United States launched missiles on Wednesday in response to North Korea’s ballistic missile test earlier in the day, According to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff.

“In response to a provocative launch of a ballistic missile, Elephant Walk [exercises] were held, as well as joint launches of surface-to-surface missiles of the US and the Republic of Korea,” Media quoted JCS as saying in a statement.

South Korea has a long military alliance with the United States, aiding the U.S. in every war since the Vietnam War, and most recently during the Iraq War. At the 2009 G20 London summit, U.S. President Barack Obama called South Korea “one of America’s closest allies and greatest friends.”
