New Delhi, July 12: Italian tennis star Jasmine Paolini reached the Wimbledon 2024 finals after defeating Croatia’s Donna Vekic in the semi-finals on Wednesday, the media reported. World number 7 Paolini won 2-6,6-4,7-6,10-8 against Vekic.
“I was serving badly, so I am so happy. This match I will remember forever. I was trying to think about what to do on the court point by point because I was really in difficulty,” Paolini said after the match.
She will now face Czech Barbora Krejcikova who defeated the Wimbledon 2022 winner Elena Rybakina in the semi-finals.
After reaching the final, Jasmine Paolini, 28, became the first Italian to reach a Wimbledon women’s singles final. The Wimbledon women’s singles final will be held at center court in London on Saturday.
