New Delhi, April 22: After losing three finals in 2024, Norwegian tennis player Casper Ruud won his first title, the Barcelona Open, after defeating Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas on Sunday, the media reported.

Ruud won 7-5,6-3 to win the Barcelona Open, the biggest title of his career.

“For me, it means a lot. This is the biggest title that I ever won. It’s something I’ve chased for a long time,” an overwhelmed Ruud said.

Casper, 25, who is ranked sixth in the world, has previously won 10 ATP tour titles but they were all at 250 level.

After losing, Stefanos reacted: “Today I didn’t have the mental capacity to fight; Casper was much fresher.”

Both Stefanos and Casper are set to compete at the 2024 Madrid Open, in Spain,  scheduled from April 22 to May  5, 2024.
