New Delhi, April 18: After remaining on the sidelines for three months, tennis icon Rafael Nadal made his comeback on Tuesday and defeated Italian Flavio Cobolli 6-2,6-3 in round one.

But just a day later, on Wednesday, he lost to Australian Alex de Minaur 7-5,6-1 in round two.

In the post-game interview, Nadal said now he hopes to compete at the French Open where he won 14 men’s single titles.

Since January, when Nadal, 37, suffered from a hip injury, he withdrew from major tennis tournaments, including the Australian Open, Monte Carlo Masters, Qatar Open, and BNP Paribas.

He said 2024 is likely to be his last year as a professional tennis player.
