Technology: Twitter to integrate with Google Account sign-in

Social Share

New Delhi: Twitter has announced that it will soon let users sign in to the microblogging site through their Google Accounts, something it had been looking into for a while.

Twitter’s sign-in page, which currently features 2 options, Sign-Up and Log-In, will add a third option of ‘Continue with Google’ shortly, reports said on Saturday.

Presumably, this button will allow users to attach their pre-existing Google Account to an existing Twitter account, thereby creating a new Twitter account with ease.

This will also make logging into the application easier and faster as Google details like email and password will be valid for Twitter, thus removing the hassle of keeping a tab on one’s passwords.

Google has offered various apps to let their users sign-up or login with nothing more than their Google Account, thereby saving the need to fill in basic information like one’s name, email address, or even picking a password, since its inception.

However, the new integration comes with its own set of pros and cons. While this step allows Twitter to gain a greater user base, if a Google Account is hacked, the hacker will have access to the user’s Twitter account as well.

In such cases, the user will have to create new Google and Twitter accounts.
