New Delhi: Haryana boxer Jaismine Lambodia beat Olympian Simranjit Kaur of Punjab by 3-2 in the semi-finals of the 60-kg category in the Fifth Elite Women’s National Boxing Championship 2021 to enter the finals on Tuesday.
Their grueling match began on an equal footing as they both dominated the ring early on. Simranjit took the lead in the first round with her precise bout combinations as Jaismine struggled to find momentum.
Soon, however, Jaismine delivered punches and defended her moves to leave Simranjit astray.
The Asian Championship bronze medalist used her long reach to her advantage and attacked with hard punches to oust the Olympian and world championship bronze medalist in the showdown by 3-2.
Jaismine will face Meena Rani of the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) in the finals of the 60-kg category.
Meanwhile, two-time Asian champion Pooja Rani Bohra of Haryana defeated Mizoram’s Lalfakmawii Ralte by 5-1 in the semi-finals of the 81-kg category.
